Wednesday Evening Adult Christian Formation
Each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., Adult Christian Education is held in the form of an online ZOOM Meeting, with access information for the meeting provided using our blast email system. Most weeks, we look forward to worship by focusing on the lectionary readings for the following Sunday. Occasionally we have classes on topics of special interest. As often as possible, we record the classes and publish those recordings on this page and on our YouTube channel.

During the month of June 2022, our Wednesday evening Christian Formation classes focused on African Americans commemorated by The Episcopal Church. On Wednesday, June 8, we gathered on Zoom to learn about James Weldon Johnson, who wrote “Lift Every Voice & Sing”. This song is now considered the National Anthem for African Americans. The Episcopal Church proposes to name June 25 as a Feast Day to commemorate his life and work. These classes were held via Zoom and are in preparation for our celebration of Juneteenth and the Feast of Pauli Murray. We concluded our special offerings on June 22 with a movie night and watched "My Name is Pauli Murray."

On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, we gathered in the Parish Hall (and on Zoom) for a special presentation by author Monica Tornoc about her new book The Truth in Our Stories: Immigrant Voices in Radical Times.
From the Introduction: "In an age of disinformation and growing racism, misconceptions about immigrants coupled with anti-immigrant sentiment have spread throughout American society. Consequently, the country has seen a concerning uptick in anti-immigrant rhetoric, harsh policies, and paramilitary activities; all of which threaten immigrant communities...The hope is that this volume helps identify our misguided ways of thinking about the immigrant experience so that we can begin to eliminate the systemic racism on which our immigration system was built...The expectation is that this book will restore a sense of shared humanity with immigrants and the immigrant community." |
