The Vestry is very happy to announce that we are calling the Reverend Ann McLemore to be our interim rector. She is coming to us from St. James Church in Jackson Mississippi, where she was an assisting priest. She will serve as Rector as St. John's until we call a permanent Rector.
It is truly amazing, and shows how God looks out for us, that a priest so in tune with our needs and desires is available for this position. Ann is a very experienced priest, and has served at and led a number of churches in many capacities over the years. She is bi-lingual in English and Spanish and has experience leading multi-cultural churches. She established and led Spanish- and English-speaking services and ministries at St. Giles Church in Pinellas Park, Florida. She also lived a number of years in Quintana Roo, Mexico and traveled extensively in Latin America.
Ann will start in April and will celebrate mass the first Sunday in April. Please welcome her, and offer her your prayers, your support, and your friendship.

On Saturday, December 1 at 9:30 AM, the St. John’s Daughters of the King will gather for our regular December activity - packing and wrapping shoe boxes of personal products for patients leaving the Austin State Hospital. These patients will not necessarily become homeless, but they won’t go home where all their immediate needs are provided, so these boxes provide some personal products to start with. The boxes are gift wrapped because they are gifts.
We would be glad to have any items you have accumulated - travel-size containers of soap, shampoo, deodorant, sunscreen, and body lotion, combs, razors, Band-Aids, etc. We also need more shoe boxes - large size - in order to pack about 20 boxes each for men and women. Donations can be dropped off in the parish hall, labeled DOK, or handed to any member. And if you happen to be around on our box-wrapping Saturday morning, stop in and admire the stacks of boxes.
