AFFORDABLE HOUSING TEAM STRIKES AGAIN !!

St. John’s members (Paula Foy, Wayne Harry, Scott Hiers, Steve Kriechbaum, Oscar Rojas, Philip Riley, and John Williams) had a fine time volunteering Friday morning May 20, 2022, at the Habitat for Humanity “ReStore” at Lake Creek.

Habitat For Humanity describes its mission in these words: “Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.”

The ReStore is a building materials and home furnishings store that sells donated and bargain-purchased merchandise to raise revenue to support Habitat for Humanity’s mission of constructing affordable housing. Volunteer support like that provided by St. John’s makes more revenue available to this critical mission instead of going to staff and overhead. Did you know 80-90% of the revenues of ReStore go straight to Habitat for Humanity’s core mission of providing affordable housing?

Our St. John’s volunteers spent the morning organizing merchandise on the shelves in the store, getting merchandise ready to go on the floor and going through donations to see what was marketable, breaking down and recycling items that didn’t make the grade. A very satisfying and fun morning for all involved.

Do you want to make a difference in our community in the area of affordable housing? Talk to John Williams, Mike Davis, or Henry Welles about getting involved.
